This is a how-to for the 2008-2020 (Gen 2) Toyota Sequoia’s rear differential fluid change. This is probably the easiest maintenance you can do on the Sequoia – might not even need the car lifted, but I had mine up anyway.
Step 1: Get the car up & wheels off. Use appropriate jacks & stands, and the lug nuts are 22mm.
Step 2: Locate the drain & fill plugs on the rear differential. They are on the passenger’s side. Despite being different size plugs, both take 10mm hex heads. Always crack the fill plug open first.
Step 3: Drain the fluid with the bottom drain. Close once complete, and be careful not to overtighten.
Step 4: Fill via the fill plug until fluid starts to dribble out. Wait five minutes, add more, and close up. Careful not to overtighten here as well. All set!
