Final event of the year! Unfortunately, a stark contrast from my performance last year – didn’t get a great run in and finished 27th overall – though we had about 10+ nationally competitive drivers at the event today.
The course standard fair for CCSCC, starting from the south and running in the typical M configuration. A lot of low speed digs which hurt the Mini. I think I wasn’t used to the tighter, lower speed CCSCC course either. My lines were off, leaving a lot of distance between cones, and I was about a second or so slower than my normal benchmarks. I wasn’t looking ahead as I have in the last few events, and the tires felt off toward the end of the event. Makes sense, given the tires had 156 runs by the end of this event. Still a lot of work to do, but I’m confident I can still make Top 10 in STL next year! Just need to clean up my lines and make sure I look ahead, which I hadn’t done this event.
My girlfriend also codrove with me, her 3rd event of the year! She did great considering how long it’s been, and there’s a lot of room for her to grow, if she’s interested in continuing on.
Things to work on (Mini):
- Keep looking ahead – now 2 gates minimum ahead, really does help
- Keep pushing harder
- Keep it going in slaloms
- Better lines
- 7/9ths full tank
- Ran 39/42psi
- 156 runs on Dunlop Z2’s, tires feel done
- Last event of the year!!! Will be back next year on RE71Rs on both cars!
2015 Run Count: 234 (+6 Mini)
