2026-0404 NNJR (VN)

Finally a warm event today not running in the first heat. I honestly can’t remember the last time I didn’t run in first heat and a clean track on a warm day made a massive difference to the balance of the car. For the first time, I didn’t spin out on course, though I did nearly lose it on my 2nd run. The car for the most part was planted or had a touch of understeer. I was running about 34/33 psi, and I might bump things back up to 35psi square next event and test that out. It seems like ambient temps have a big impact on the Vitours and how much grip they have to begin with so I’ll have to keep experimenting a little more with the car. I do think a lot of the problems I’ve had will go away with the new bridgestones, but I can’t really chuck a decent set of tires away.

I had a passenger for most of my runs, and my 5th run after dropping them was the fastest of the day. I was just a bit slow on my 6th run, but my 5th run felt pretty good. Maybe could have shut it down a little more before the finish but I really felt in rhythm the last run, one of the first times I’ve really felt that way in this car. The competition is intense in NJ so I still need to really step up my game and improve my driving. Ride alongs are not really a thing in NJ, so I need to on my own explore where I can go faster/what the optimal lines are. For now though, pretty happy with how I drove and I hope to continue improving here.
