2025-0404 Marotta 1 (VN)

Now we’re getting somewhere. Third event in the VN, but the first in decent weather – dry-ish, and temps in the high 60s and low 70s. This car was perfect in these conditions – with me even wanting a little more front grip in one particular spot of the course. I still may get the latest and greatest in summer tires for the car. Next year’s move to GS is basically confirmed, meaning it’s going to be a competitive. I can store the tires indoors for the off-season, maybe wrap them in vacuum sealed bags or something. These tires did of course come alive in the heat, but I think they’re still a little dated in terms of ultimate grip.

I spun once, the first lap, but after that, no issues with the car. I am still losing a little time when the backend slides, but it’s nowhere near as egregious as before. I think I’ll even bump up the rear tire pressures back to 36, from 35. This was a volunteer event where I worked timing for 2 heats, and hot lapped the car for about a heat and a half, getting in around 10 runs. This was exactly what I needed to build some confidence and comfort in the car, and it felt fantastic. The other events of the weekend were canceled due to rain/poor attendance, so I’m glad I got in for this event. Hopefully the event near the end of April will be dry. 2 cones on my fast lap but I was able to replicate it cleanly on my last lap. The added grip in the back gave me a ton of confidence for the slalom, where I’m also flinging the car back and forth. Very fun time.
