This is a how-to for the 2019-2022 (Gen 2) Hyundai Veloster N intake air filter. This is a super easy job to do, and you can replace the cheap paper filter from the factory. The only aftermarket air filter I was able to find was the K&N however, and while I’m not a big fan of oiled filters or K&N in general, this looks way better than the stock one. I haven’t noticed any difference noise, responsiveness, or power, but haven’t pushed it all that hard.
1. Pop the engine bay. The intake box is located beneath the battery. The top of the intake box is held on by 4 clips, and once undone you can completely remove the top.
2. Taking off the top exposes the (cheap) paper filter.
3. The filter is essentially held on by being wedged in place between the intake box wall and the pull tab. Prepare the other filter and pull upwards on the pull tab.
4. Odd image angle, the K&N is a perfect fit, a direct swap. The pleats are higher quality, which makes sense since the K&N is an oiled cotton filter, vs the OEM paper.
5. Wedge the K&N in place, making sure the hole lines up with the hole in the intake box, and reinsert the pull tab. The fit for this intake is perfect, and the pull tab ridge perfectly covers the end of the air filter. Reinstall the top and clip it back on, and it’s done!
